WU 305 Universal Tool and Production Grinder
"SIGS" Modular Stepped Tool Software

Development of the SIGS (Schütte Integrated Grinding Software) package is at full speed, with its focus on the sectors "Stepped tools" and "Profile tools". An intelligent operator guidance feature and a list of 45 available machining process applications allows the user to select the operations that best suits his particular grinding requirements.

For instance, it enables him to produce, in a single set-up, a complex stepped tool with a ball nose cutter-type face (see following picture) or a high-performance drill point. The extended software module for use with an integral pick-up loader offers added flexibility. It allows the user to allocate a different machining process to each pallet location. During machining, success or error messages can be transmitted to the machine operator's mobile phone by SMS, if so desired.

Machining cycle simulation is another sector where interesting developments have taken place. The new version "Vericut 5.2" contains a number of features that have been developed to cover, in particular, certain tool grinding requirements.

Initial Menu

The layout of the soft keys provides a clear view of the logical connection between the various input sectors and suggests a sensible data input sequence.

Infrequently accessed input sectors are called up by pull down menus.

It is possible to store all files connected with a particular grinding task under a single generic term.

User-Friendly Contour Input

The surface contour is programmed interactive by stringing together simple contour elements such as cylinder, diagonals, shoulders and convex or concave arcs.  Every change is immediately displayed on screen and true-to-scale.

Alternatively, a DXF interface allows the user to import contours from CAD systems.

A Large Number of Available Grinding Operations

Inter-Link Module "Modula"

Allows for the integration of grinding operations contained in different software packages i.e. stepped tools can be ground with either a ball nose or a special drill point in one set up.

Simulation Software VeriCut®

The simulation software VeriCut® allows the user to carry out preliminary tests on a external PC to eliminate scraped parts and collision.

The established settings can be transferred to the machine either by network or diskette.
